Photobucket

Shipped the feature two consulting groups
and a Product Owner couldn't.

Role Sr. Product Designer
+ Front-end Developer
Scope Web app,
design system
Stack React,
Figma

Photobucket needed Group Buckets — a collaborative photo sharing feature critical to the future of the business. Two consulting groups and a Product Owner had failed to get it off the ground.

I was brought on as a Sr. Product Designer to advance the initiative. Over the course of the engagement I led the design of Group Buckets across web and mobile, contributed to its rollout and product strategy, and shipped front-end code in React. Along the way I helped spin up Figma libraries and components for the team.

The MVP shipped in six months.

Gallery grid view of a bucket with sidebar switcher
01 Inside a bucket, the gallery was rebuilt around a new sidebar switcher so people could move between personal moments and group contexts without losing their place. Density, zoom, and filtering all live on a single toolbar.
Single-photo lightbox view
02 The single-photo view strips the chrome down to the image and a focused tool rail — favorite, download, share, move, edit — with a thumbnail filmstrip for fast traversal.
Collections home with albums and shared links
03 A unified Collections home pulls albums, shared links, and trash into one surface — so members can manage everything they've created across every bucket they belong to without bouncing between contexts.
Album view with sharing link modal open
04 Sharing has always been core to Photobucket, but the existing model didn't fit the new paradigm. Every shared link is now its own object — title, password, expiration, lifecycle — created from the album it points to.
Spaces page listing personal and group buckets
05 Group Buckets meant a single user could now own — or belong to — many buckets at once. The Spaces page is the new home base: every bucket the user can access, with the right actions surfaced based on whether they own it, manage it, or are just a member.
